Political Parties in the UK
There are many different political parties that all represent different values, but the three major ones are the Liberal Democrats, the Conservatives and the Labour Party. Below is what they do and what they value most.
The Liberal Democrats
The Liberal Democrats are the third biggest party in the UK, and are hugely popular among students and were greatly appreciated when they were the only major party to disagree with the Iraq War. They believe in fair tax, and are in fact currently launching a campaign that makes sure that the super-rich pay their fair share of tax, while decreasing taxes for the average worker. The Liberal Democrats also focus on liberty, equality and and a community where everybody will be free of poverty or ignorance.
The Conservatives
The Conservative party is led by David Cameron, who is also the current Prime Minister. One of their aims is to improve the quality of life for everyone by enhancing our surroundings and protecting the future of our planet. Believing in culture, media and sports, the Conservative party wanted to deliver a successful Olympic legacy. "Together, we will make sure these aren't just the Games that made history, but that help shape our future."
The Labour Party
The Labour Party believes in social justice and reward for hard work, just to name a few. Because they have the most woman MPs than all of the other political parties put together, they value the role of women in society. Adding on to this idea, they are holding a National Women's Conference which is brings politicians to discuss policy, share ideas and plan how to best treat and manage women across the country.
When decisions get made, they have to take in all of the different values that the political parties represent. Also, if a decision gets made that one political party disagrees with, they will have to compromise.
