Executive Branch
The executive branch of government executes the laws, and makes sure that they are being followed. The Prime Minister is the head of the executive branch, but gets support from his Cabinet members. Together, they are the ultimate decision-making group of the executive branch. Below are just a few of the various ministries and executive departments that make up this branch of government in the UK. The majority of these departments are lead by a member of the Cabinet.
Department for Education
Hence the name, the Department of Education focuses on the education and child services throughout the UK. They focus on giving children and young people an equal opportunity for an education no matter what your background may be. This department is responsible for the teaching and learning of any student, no matter what age, and especially focus on the disadvantaged. Also, this is an extremely important ministry as it helps many people across the UK and changes their lives for the better. One of their priorities for 2013 is to train and develop the professionals who work with children, or if you are living in the UK, YOUR teachers, which would then make your schooling experience more fulfilling.

Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs
This is a very general department that focuses on the rural communities throughout the UK, the environment, food and farming, and the welfare of animals. Instead of delving into all of the sub departments, we are going to focus on the Wildlife and Animal Welfare. This sub department focuses on managing fisheries and maintaining a healthy marine environment, protecting animal health and welfare, preventing tuberculosis and ensuring that research and animal testing is safe. The Wildlife and Animal Welfare department focuses on protecting animals and ensuring that they have the correct living space and are being cared for. "Create a healthy and stress-free environment for them," is one of their policies. Are they really doing that though?

The UK has passed many acts that relate to the well-being of animals, and any kind of animal abuse is illegal. Saying this, though, the RSPCA has reported that animal related offenses have risen from 3,114 in 2011 to 4,168 in 2012. It is clear that these acts aren't being followed, and that is what the executive branch is supposed to prevent. Not only is this department of the executive branch doing a poor job, so is the judicial. The judges are being urged to take these offenses far more seriously. The government has publicly stated that animals are "sentient beings, not merely commodities, and has confirmed it's commitment to the highest possible standards of welfare." If this is so, why are all of these animals being hurt?
